Sometimes it can be very tricky to raise children as they grow older and go through phases, temper tantrums, puberty, hormonal imbalances, and as they start to develop personal problems of their own. Here is a list of things you can do as a parent to keep your cool and stay on good terms with your child!
1. Start by taking a deep breath! Everyone can get stressed at times but it is important to try and relax yourself before any yelling or fighting begins. You can't breathe and yell at the same time!
2. Count to 10. This is another way to get yourself to relax when you are very stressed out by your children. Counting to ten can help you cool yourself down before exploding.
3. Make sure to speak calmly. Kids can always tell when you have a tone or if you are angry with them. It is important that you speak normally and calmly so that your kids do not feel enabled to follo your example and give you attitude or use a tone.
4. Don't take your child's behavior personally. As mentioned above, children go through many different mood sings and hormonal issues as they grow older. Most of the time, when arguing with your child, the child will not really mean any rude thing that they say. If you are less sensitive toward their comments, it is easier to prevent more fighting.

If you know that your child will soon do something to aggravate you, make a plan for what you will do before it happens. It is easier to be cool with your child if you already have a plan for dealing with them.
6. Sometimes we need to take a perspective check. Because we are parents, we often think that we always know what is best for our children.
